Planet George is the place that George Michael fans call home

On May 1st 1997, G-Notes was launched with a simple website, and a newsletter that aimed to keep GM fans in touch with one another, and with news. George’s new album Older had recently come out, and the fans were very active. The online community flourished, and soon we had thousands of members from all over the world.

Then, we changed the name to Planet George, as we realized that George’s music truly touched all corners of the world. Our map of members showed that there were fans in over 100 countries, and increasing every day.

Through the years, we have been involved in many projects, and George has noticed our contributions. Several times we collected donations from our members for one of George’s favorite charities – Help A London Child. When Central America was ravaged by Hurricane Mitch, we held a special collection, and George personally matched our collection. With George’s help, we donated over $8,000 to the victims of the hurricane of the century. George Michael fans are now older, more established, worldly, and we hope to continue making a contribution to the world, as George has always done.

In the past, we have held fun contests that kept fans involved. Bingo was very popular, but became difficult to maintain as our membership soared into the thousands. Many generous members have donated the prizes to us, and we are grateful for the generosity of GM fans.

Many friendships have begun at the Planet George newsletter. With our Introductions newsletter, new members can introduce themselves to fans around the world. If you have a story of a special friend that you met at Planet George, let us know about it!

Planet George is truly a community, not just a newsletter. The assistants are vital to us. So many fans have been involved with our administration, everything from organizing parties, to compiling birthday messages for George. Now is the time to look to the future. It’s 2003, and George Michael is working on a new album. It may be time for a few appearances, we hope, which would rock our community again. Planet George is releasing this new dynamic website in order to serve GM fans better. Dax Pandhi from India is the genius behind the design and organization, and we are eternally grateful for his inspired contribution to Planet George. Thank-you Dax!
